Basics

 

Raised in small towns in the south. Studied architecture at LSU and NCSU. Went back to university at third time to study “film” at USC. Stayed in California as a result. An avid listener and practitioner of the southern storytelling tradition. Became a “Californian” when he had 2 boys born in so-cal, Henry and Raymond, with his wife Kaye. 

 

 

Does/Doing

 

Teaches undergraduate and graduate architecture studio, a basic filmmaking class, bicycle cooperative, etc… Thinks nearly everyday about how to bring stories to life. Listens and “borrows” from the stories people tell him about their lives.   Currently working on a story about Mid-Century Modern Architecture set in Palm Springs, CA - A mid-century modern fable about ARCHITECTS, fame, sex, booze and flat roofs.

To do

 

Live in New Orleans again... during just the cooler months.
Make Plata Studio and “findingrural” an ongoing effort/investigation into Silver City, NM. Study both the allure and dysfunction of rural America.
Learn to be a better guitar player.
Be near the front of the line when Tim Castillo opens his food truck.
